For Mother's Day. my wife and daughter wanted to eat at a Vietnamese restaurant for dinner and located Mama Tieu's which is a 30 mile or so drive from the South Bay Area.. We frequently drive to Orange County or Garden Grove for lunch or dinner as we enjoy finding new places to eat. Mama Tieu's is a uniquely quaint, tastefully designed, comfortable, and modern looking restaurant. We timed our visit perfectly as there was no line out the door waiting for seating. You can tell by the wait for your food, that it is being prepared with care and exquisitely presented. The meals were absolutely wonderful. This has now become my favorite place to go for Vietnamese food. Thank you Mama Tieu for a delightful experience and for stopping by our table to chat with us. Until next time, BIENTOT!

Located in a crowded trendy shopping center in Garden Grove, Mama Tieu's serves up classic Vietnamese eats in a modern open space environment. Maybe it was an off day. Maybe the A.C. wasn't performing optimally on this warm Summer day. I walked past the kitchen and the heat felt like an inferno. Maybe it was the wait or confusion when they found my order was packed to go when I was actually dining in. I was still eager to try their Ragu bread bowl and Cari Ga (chicken curry) bread bowl. Unfortumately, I found both to be heavey on the sweet side. I feel both dishes should be savory and lean towards the salty spectrum. While I may be back for the other dishes, I will refrain from their curries and bread bowls. Hopefully their other dishes will be their homerun.
